Since it's appearance on the stage of history, Jerusalem has been embraced by the entire world as a symbol of the hopes, dreams and yearnings which comprise the emotional and spiritual spectrum of the human experience. 3000 years ago King David made Jerusalem the capital of his Kingdom and the political and religious centre of the Jewish nation. It is unique among cities. Blessing and inspiration have flowed from Jerusalem; the city has called forth religious longing and artistic creativity in all ages, in continents around the globe.
Jerusalem, rich with sacred historical sites, with treasures of art and culture remains a spiritual focal point, holy to the three monotheistic religions. Millions of believers view Jerusalem with reverence. While rich in tradition and heritage, Jerusalem is also a vibrant cultural and cosmopolitan metropolis, attracting visitors, tourists and pilgrims from around the world.
At a time when old hatreds are diminishing, we look to Jerusalem to herald a new way that will allow hope and inspiration to shine upon the world from David's City.
